At this meeting, we will recognize members who have achieved important milestones and certifications, as well as honor the 2026–2027 Somerset County Teacher of the Year, Neil Thompson, Social Studies Teacher at North Plainfield High School in the North Plainfield School District.

Neil Thompson is a dedicated educator who has spent his entire 25-year teaching career in North Plainfield, creating engaging learning experiences that connect history, citizenship, and thoughtful decision-making to students’ lives and communities. He developed the highly sought-after Law, Crime, and Punishment course, connecting classroom learning to real-world career pathways in law enforcement, law, and public service. Neil has also served as a teacher mentor, curriculum writer, and member of the school’s Scheduling Committee and Security and Safety Team.
