We eagerly look forward to the first Essex County
SBA hybrid meeting of the 2024-2025 school year on
Thursday, October 10. The topic for the program is, ``Best
Practices for Engaging with Your Board Attorney``.
The program will offer an opportunity for real-life
communication and tasks between the Board of Education President,
Board Members, Attorney, and District Staff. The team of presenters
for the evening hails from the East Orange School District. They
will include Andrea McPhatter, president of the East Orange
Board of Education; Medinah E. Muhammad, vice president of the East
Orange Board of Education; Dr. Christopher Irving, superintendent
of the East Orange School District; and Khalifah L. Shabazz,
Partner of Souder, Shabazz & Woolridge Law Group.
The meeting will include reports from the Essex County SBA
Executive Committee Members, a preview of Workshop 2024: Quest for
Student Success, an Advocacy Update from the NJSBA Advocacy Team,
and a Field Services update from NJSBA senior field service
representative Charlene Peterson and field service representative
Jeanne Cleary.
We warmly invite all Board of Education Members,
Superintendents, and Business Administrators from across New Jersey
to participate in person at The Appian Way in
Orange or virtually. Your presence and insights at this
